100% of Proceeds will go to Seattle Children's supporting Dr. Olson's Neuro-Oncology Research. About this Event The Rock the Cure Fundraiser began in loving memory of Miriam Adams 1987-2006. It was founder, of Kitsap Friends of Children's Guild, Miriam Adams’, daily wish that no child would ever have to hear the words she heard when she was diagnosed with brain cancer on January 23, 2003. She had faith that the work she began at Kitsap Friends of Children's Guild would result in a cure for children’s brain cancer. The Rock the Cure event was started by her mother Julie Cooper in 2013 in hopes to raise awareness and funds towards Dr. Jim Olson's Neuro-Oncology Research. In 2013, Olson and colleagues at Fred Hutch launched Project Violet which is geared toward developing innovative approaches for brain cancer treatment. Olson’s goal is to find more effective and less toxic drugs for diseases that are currently considered incurable. He does this by using blueprints from nature’s mini-protein drugs and does so in the non-profit space where efforts will help patients for decades. 100% of proceeds of Rock the Cure will go directly to Seattle Children's supporting Dr. Jim Olson's Neuro-Oncology Research.
